We have close links with consultants and other specialists in a wide variety of fields both NHS and privately, and rapid referrals can be made when appropriate. There are also good ancillary resources for blood tests, physiotherapy, tympanometry and pulmonary function tests, chiropody, Ultrasound, MRI and X-rays etc.

This consists of the General Practitioners, Practice Nurses, District Nurses, Health Visitor and Community Midwives, backed up by Community Psychiatric Nurses and HIV/AIDS Counsellors, Physiotherapist, Chiropodist and Pharmacists.

The Shrubberies Psychotherapy and counselling Unit

This consists of professional qualified therapists with varying areas of interest. We recognise that there are times when anyone can be overwhelmed with problems resulting in depression, stress reactions, anxiety, panic attacks and other symptoms. They offer a wide range of counselling and psychotherapy services.

The Practice Area

Patients are welcome to register at the Centre if they live in the E18 postal area. Patients can be registered in surrounding areas by arrangement after discussion with the doctor

ACCESS FOR DISABLED PEOPLE

The Centre has good access for disabled people. The entrance to the surgery area has a ramp. The toilet is equipped with facilities for the disabled.

DOCTORS IN TRAINING

As the Centre is a recognised teaching practice, students and doctors in training will occasionally be sitting in on consultations with the doctors. If, however, you wish to be seen alone, a quick word with the receptionist will ensure you can do so without embarrassment.

If you need to see a doctor urgently and the surgery is closed, Redbridge PCT provide out of hours cover based at Whipps Cross Hospital. You will need to phone to book an appointment on 020 8539 4229.

WALK IN CENTRE

The Walk In Centre is a Nurse led service which is incorporated with the Emergency and Urgent Care Centre at King George Hospital, Barley Lane, Goodmayes. They provide assistance with minor ailments and injuries. This new Centre will be offering a 24 hour, 7 days a week service, every single day of the year.

Family Planning

The doctors hold family planning certificates and will provide a full contraceptive service. This is provided during normal surgeries for maximum patient convenience and to preserve anonymity. If necessary, contraceptive coils are fitted by appointment at suitable times. Please advise the receptionist when booking an appointment as a longer time may be required.

Maternity Services

A full maternity service is available, backed by good consultant support when required. Most ante-natal care can be provided at the surgery.

Ultrasound scanning

Referrals can be made through the NHS or privately.

Screening

A fully comprehensive cervical cancer smear test service is available, together with breast screening. Blood pressure monitoring, urine tests, blood sugars and lipid monitoring are available as required. Advice about diet and weight control is also available.

Patients Rights and Responsibilities

You have a right to expect a high standard of medical care from our team and we will try at all times to provide the very best care possible within the resources available. The relationship between our patients and those working in the surgery is important and is a two way process.

In order to assist you in this we require that you take full responsibility for ensuring that you do not abuse the service. For example, it is the patient's responsibility to ensure that appointments are kept, and advice given is followed.

Very occasionally a practice/patient relationship breaks down completely. In this situation the patient may choose to register with a different practice. The practice also has the right to remove the patient from the list. This would only follow a warning that has failed to remedy the situation and we will always give the patient a specific reason for the removal. Please note this is an exceptional circumstance.

This Practice supports the Government's NHS Zero tolerance zone campaign. Therefore in order to protect both the staff and other patients, we respectfully point out that we will not tolerate the following inappropriate behaviour:-

Swearing
Threatening or abusive behaviour
Drunkenness
Verbal or physical abuse of any kind

All acts of criminal violence or aggression will be notified to the police immediately.

Such behaviour has a marked effect on staff and other patients. Therefore we reserve the right to withdraw from treating the patient and ensuring removal of those involved. from the premises.

COMPLAINTS, COMPLIMENTS & FEEDBACK

If you have a complaint or concern about the service you have received from the doctors or any of the staff working in this Practice, please let us know. We operate an informal practice complaints procedure as part of an NHS system for dealing with complaints. Our complaints system meets national criteria. CONFIDENTIALITY We hope that most problems can be sorted out easily and quickly, often at the time they arise and with the person concerned. If this is not possible and you wish to make a complaint, please inform us as soon possible—ideally within a matter of days, or at most a few weeks. This will enable us to establish what happened more easily.

Complaints should be addressed to Elaine Edwards (Practice Manager) or any of the doctors. Alternatively you may ask for an appointment with Elaine Edwards to discuss your concerns. She will explain the complaints procedure to you, and will ensure that your concerns are dealt with promptly and take action as appropriate when there is a failure to achieve the high standards aimed for.

To run a happy successful Practice we need feedback from our patients. If you do have any comments, suggestions or complaints, let us know. We are always willing to listen. Similarly, if you are pleased with things, remember that the staff thrive on praise, and your compliments and thanks will help everyone do their job even better.
